Think & Shoot!

“Nadie dijo que fuera fácil” y “casi todos los comienzos son difíciles” son las dos cosas que se me vienen la cabeza en este momento. Así que acabemos rápido con el inicio de esto y a partir del siguiente hagamos como si fuese mi décima entrada en el blog… Aún así, no voy a ser “maleducado” en mis primeras palabras (ya tendré tiempo :P). Me presento:

Soy edu gómez; sí, en minúsculas, que con mayúsculas me veo demasiado “raro”, como si trabajara en mi casa con traje y corbata. Soy… bueno, esto siempre es discutible pero… seamos correctos: trabajo como diseñador gráfico, fotógrafo, retocador y profesor en una escuela de diseño de Málaga. Lo bueno no es trabajar de estas cosas, lo bueno es que me gusta / me encanta.

Si estás pensando que voy a hablar de esas cosas que dije que me gustaban, has acertado; aunque a veces hable de otras cosas que también me gustan. (Casi) todos los fotógrafos son algo más que hombres o mujeres con una cámara y luces, igual que los diseñadores algo más que hombres con pantoneras. ¿Qué sorpresa eh?

De entre todas las cosas que se pueden querer hacer, yo tenía ésta en mente. Y claro, cuando se tiene algo de tiempo (o no se tiene todo el trabajo que se pudiese tener, llámalo como quieras) creo que lo mejor es dedicar algo de tiempo a las cosas que uno mismo quiere, que te gustan. Unos los llaman proyectos personales, otros “pajas mentales” pero todos se refieren a lo mismo. Al final, aunque no tengas más que tu propio reconocimiento o el de algún amigo, son de las cosas que se hacen con más ganas.

Y así empieza esto… espero que dure bastante y que pueda aportar “un algo” a quien le de por leer…

“Nobody said it was easy” and “every start is difficult” are the things that come to my mind in this moment. So let’s finish quickly with this thing and pretend that this is my 10th entry on the blog… Anyways im not going to be “impolite” on my first words (i’ll have time for that ;). I introduce myself:

I’m edu gómez, yes, lower case; i feel really “weird” on uppercase, like if i work at home wearing a suit and a tie. I am… well this could be discuss but… let’s be correct: i work as a graphic designer, photographer, retoucher and as a teacher at a design school in Málaga. The good thing is not work as these things, is that i really like / love them.

If you are thinking that i’m going to talk about “these” things, you are right; but sometimes i’ll talk about other things that i like too. (Most of) all the photographers are more than a man or woman with a camera and strobes as designers are more than men with pantone guides. What a surprise!

Among all the things that you want and can do… i have this one on my head. And when you have some free time (or you don’t have all the work you should have, call it whatever you want) i think that you better “waste” your time on things that you really want to do, things that you love. Personal projects or “mind jobs” as others prefers to say but it is the same thing. At the end, although you just have your own appreciation or maybe yours friend’s; personal projects are the things that you make with all your passion.

And this is how this blog starts, i hope that it last long and that you can “get something” from it…
