Little Blue Riding Hood

Ayer estuve haciendo una de las últimas sesiones que voy a hacer antes de irme a Londres. Siendo así la verdad que no pudo estar mejor. El equipo de gente que fue era sublime, además, es la primera vez que hago fotos con tanta gente haciendo que todo fuese mejor que bien. María Carrasco (aka Meri Princesita) la diseñadora, no puede tener más clase y si en 2 meses y pico de curso de patronaje está haciendo cosas así, que vayan preparando la placa del premio del Málaga Crea de este año Las modelos: Claudia Kösler, Cristina González, María López y Michell Brown de las mejores de lo mejor de Málaga (asegurado 100%), están espectaculares y hacen que las fotos luzcan muchísimo (así es muuuuuucho más fácil que todo salga bien). Lourdes Pérez (aka Lulú Pérez) fue la maquilladora, ya habéis visto cosas suyas y si cada vez que hago algo la llamo es por algo… genial su trabajo para variar.  Por otro lado, gente en la sombra ayudando con las luces (qué cosas!): Lidia, que siempre está contenta y ayudando en todos los berenjenales, una crack!; Zarco (que también se ha hecho una entradilla para las fotos que veis ahí arriba del post), Mar, Cintia, Rocio que hicieron que todo fuese más sencillo y que la hora no se nos fuera de las manos. Y en general, GRACIAS a todos porque lo pasamos de lujo y el resultado está a la altura de la gente que participó, os lo garantizo. Ya me acordaré en Londres de cosas como estas…

Yesterday I had one of my latest photoshoots before I move to London. It couldn’t be better. The team was great and it was the fist time I shooted with so many people trying to help to make it look awesome. And we did it. María Carrasco (aka Meri Princesita) was the designer. It’s hard to believe that she have been only studying fashion design for 2 month looking at the clothes. There are so much class in her designs. The models: Claudia Kösler, Cristina González, María López y Michell Brown are some of my favourite models of Málaga and they look awesome in the Pictures; this way is much much easier to make the job look amazing. Lourdes Pérez is my usual MUA. If I call her every time I do a job it should be because of something, great job as always Lulú. And many people in the shadows helping with the lights and other staff: the always happy Lidia, always helping with a loto f things; Zarco (who made the Little Blue Riding Hood logo too), Mar, Cintia and Rocio; they made the job easier, faster and more enjoyable. THANKS A LOT to all of you, and I hope you enjoyed as much as I did, our results are in the level of the people involved, I guaranteed. I’m sure I’ll be missing things like this in London…

Hoy, día 11 de junio, Ángel Capel presenta su disco “Sólo pienso en ti” del que estuve encargado por medio de DN Records de hacer las fotos de promo, las del cd y el diseño del mismo. Os dejo algunas para que veáis como quedaron.

No es exactamente un making of pero subo la foto del set ya que muchos tenían curiosidad de cómo estaba colocado todo. 2 hojas de celo y luego un poco de postproducción en modo Lab, ya que el canal rojo estaba un poco jodido en el original por disparar de aquella manera.

Not exactly a making of but it is the picture of the set used on the last serie. 2 coloured cellophane sheets and a bit of post on Lab mode because red channel was a bit f*cked up because of shooting this way.

Introducing… Carmen Muñoz

Este sábado pasado tuve el placer de trabajar con Carmen Muñoz. El resultado del trabajo que hicimos también en los talleres que estoy dando y con Lulú Pérez como maquilladora, fue muy bueno. Abajo os dejo un par de imágenes de la sesión. Prometo que la próxima entrada tendrá más contenido… tengo que de hablar pero no demasiado tiempo últimamente para explicarme como quiero. Demasiadas cosas que hacer y muy poco tiempo.

Last Saturday i had the pleasure of working with Carmen Muñoz. The final result of the shooting was really good. It was again for the workshops I do on Saturdays and with Lulú Pérez as our MUA. I show you a pair of photos we got. I promise the next post would be full of content… I have many things to say but not much time to explain myself as i want. Too many things to do but lack of time.

Making of, Sábado 23 2010 | Saturday 23rd 2010

Como dije, pondría algunas imágenes y contaría un poco como fue el primer taller que dí este año en gaussmultimedia.com aunque tampoco puedo extenderme mucho que quedan 4 grupos por recibirlo. Es un taller general sobre lo que conlleva una sesión de fotografía: lo que hay antes, lo que hay después y las cosas a tener en cuenta. Mientras nuestra modelo (en el caso del sábado, Cristina González) y nuestra maquilladora (Lulú Pérez) empezaban con el maquillaje, yo explicaba la parte teórica y el porqué del taller en un master de diseño. Una vez la modelo estaba lista y nosotros habíamos terminado llegaba la parte “buena”, disparar.
Estuve el día de antes preparando esta parte: pintando fondos (tabla de madera de 2,55 x 1,50), algunas planchas de corcho para usarlas tanto de reflector como de banderas, buscando algún elemento que hiciera la sesión más curiosa… El resultado fue bastante bueno, teníamos en un aula un miniestudio para beauty montado de manera que si llovía (como fue el caso) no nos mojábamos como el año pasado, que fue en exteriores.
Después de que viéramos diferentes tipos de iluminació y de ver qué iba haciendo cada cabeza en el esquema decidí no desmontar nada y poder experimentar un poco más. Saray Ramos, una amiga y modelo que ya os presentaré, vino para seguir disparando y es aquí donde tuve el tiempo y la tranquilidad para sacar las fotos del making off y seguir probando algunas cosas.

Like I said I would be posting some photos and I would tell what the first workshop in gaussmultimedia.com was about but it can’t take too long because there are still 4 groups of students coming on the next Saturdays. The workshop is about what a photo shoot is and what’s behind and after it. At the time our model (Cristina González who I introduced her in the last post) and our MUA (Lulú Pérez) were working on the make-up, I was explaining all the theoretical things and the reason for the workshop as part of a design master course. Once the model was ready the “good” part started: The shooting.
The day before I was preparing it: painting our backgrounds and some polystyrene sheets to use as reflectors or to cut some light, looking for some elements which could give the shoot “a difference”. The idea was pretty good and we have a mini studio in a classroom nearby so we won’t get wet if it rains, like it happened last year when we had the shooting on location.
After seeing different light schemes and taking a lot of pictures we finished the workshop but I decided not to dismantle the whole thing and experiment a bit more. Saray Ramos, a model and friend of mine who I’ll introduce in a future post, came to continue shooting and this is were I get the time to take some making off pictures and test some ideas I had.

Hoy ha sido el típico día que te levantas muy temprano y no paras hasta que te vas a dormir. Todavía no me voy a dormir, pero estoy seguro de que será así.

Te levantas a las 8 de la mañana, desconectas todas las luces que adornan el cuarto por la noche (cargadores) y metes todo el coche. Toca sesión. ¿A qué o a quién? A Estefanía (os la presento más abajo, en la foto) para su book personal.

El día perfecto, sin mucho frío ni viento y con buena luz. Así da gusto. Localizacones variadas: Torremolinos (los pinos) dónde hay varios sitios muy aprovechables. Uno me recordó a una localización que uso mi amigo y también fotógrafo Saud Rifat en la sesión que lo conocí personalmente, en Marbella. Luego cambiamos a un sitio con más colorido para hacer algo más “divertido” y terminamos en unos montículos de arena que por las lluvias andan inundados. Son los que se ven en la foto.

Mañana me pasaré el día probando el set de iluminación que vamos a utilizar el sábado en el primer taller que doy en GaussMultimedia sobre fotografía, una visión general de qué conlleva una sesión de fotos, desde la pre-producción hasta la entrega final, pasando por la sesión en sí (que comprende la mayor parte del taller) y la post-producción, que será el siguiente taller en el que los torture con el pincel corrector, tampón de clonar…

Bueno, ya contaré qué tal el taller y subiré algunas fotos de lo que montamos!

Today is the typical day that you get up early and you don’t stop until you go to bed. I’m not going to bed yet but i know that is going to be like this for sure.

You get up at 8am, switch off all the lights that decorate your room at night (chargers) and put everything in the car. It’s a shooting day. What am i shooting? Estefanía (I introduce her later, in the picture) for her personal portfolio.

A perfect day, not very cold, no wind and nice light! A pleasure. We went to various locations: Torremolinos (“los pinos”) where you can find really nice spots. One of them reminded me one location that my friend (and photographer) Saud Rifat used in the shoot I met him, in Marbella. Later we went to a more colorful place to make something “funnier” and we ended in some sand mountains which were flooded by the rain of these past days. You can see them on the picture.

Tomorrow I’ll be most of the time testing the illumination set I’m going to use this Saturday on the first “workshop” I’m preparing for GaussMultimedia about photography, a general vision and what does a shoot take, from pre-production to final delivery, passing trough the shooting itself (most part of the worship) and post-produccion / edition which would be the next workshop they take.

I’ll tell how was the workshop and upload some pictures of what we did!
